PhD students in the Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences programs of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences typically receive grant support to cover the Harvard Griffin GSAS tuition and health fees for six years (G1-G5 years plus the Dissertation Completion Fellowship year). While actual length varies by individual program, PhD programs in the Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences have an anticipated time to degree that typically ranges from 6 to 7 years. Per the Extended Tuition & Health Fees Initiative implemented in Fall 2024, students who are making satisfactory academic progress and whose final year of study will exceed six years may be eligible for an additional year of tuition and health fees support during the G6 year. The Harvard Griffin GSAS Office of Financial Aid will work with eligible programs to determine qualifying students; no action is needed by the student. Note: eligibility is based upon program endorsement and Harvard Griffin GSAS administration approval.
