Last day students from other Schools may file cross-registration petitions for spring term with the FAS Registrar’s Office. Some schools have earlier deadlines. 

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a competition for doctoral students to develop and showcase their research communication skills in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Students have three minutes to communicate their research with the visual aid of one static slide and win prize money or a lunch with the dean of Harvard Griffin GSAS. 

Last day to change to or from SAT/UNS grading option for designated language courses.

Last day to add (or enroll in) spring 2025 courses. To add a course after this date, an approved Petition to Add must be submitted to the Office of Academic Programs. 

Spring recess begins on Saturday, March 15, 2025, and ends on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

Degree applications on my.harvard are due for a diploma for an advanced degree to be awarded on Tuesday, Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Course registration for returning students opens to allow enrolling in fall 2025 courses

Each year, eight PhD candidates are chosen to participate in the Harvard Horizons program to receive in-depth, personalized mentoring and coaching designed to enhance their presentation skills.

Fall 2025 full-term course registration for all students due. ​Students must submit enrollments for minimum course load (typically 16 credits) at my.harvard by 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Last day of spring term classes 

Spring term reading period begins on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, and ends on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Last day on which students may submit an approved Petition to Withdraw from spring term course to the Office of Academic Programs.

Spring term examinations begin on Thursday, May 8, 2025, and end on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Dissertations are due on ProQuest ETD by 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 15, 2025 for a diploma for an advanced degree to be awarded on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Degree recommendations from programs are due on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, for a diploma for an advanced degree to be awarded on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
