As interim dean of students, Dan Volchok leads the Office of Student Affairs at Harvard Griffin GSAS and works collaboratively with Schools and administrative units across the University to promote a culture of engagement and belonging, enhance the graduate student experience, and support the well-being and success of more than 4,800 students in 58 academic programs. Dan supervises 13 employees, including four direct reports, manages a $2.6 million budget, and provides intellectual, strategic, and operational leadership for five offices that deliver programs and services to Harvard Griffin GSAS students: Student Success, Residential Life, Student Services, Title VI, VII and IX, and the Student Center at Harvard Griffin GSAS

As assistant dean of student success, Dan Volchok serves as a resource for all students, faculty, and staff in communicating and interpreting Harvard Griffin GSAS policies and procedures. He advises students on administrative interaction and processes within FAS and across campus, enforces community standards in coordination with the administrative board, and liaises on the student health insurance and emergency management. In conjunction with two direct reports, manages a number of services and events including the MBTA Semester Pass program, Harvard Griffin GSAS Welcomes events, and the Harvard Griffin GSAS Commencement Diploma Awarding Ceremony.
