Seth Avakian
As program director for nondiscrimination and professional conduct, Seth Avakian leads the Title VI, VII, IX, and professional conduct team in the Office for Faculty Affairs and at the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. In addition to managing a team of program officers, Seth oversees responses to disclosures, assessment, training and prevention efforts, communication, and reporting. He acts as an intermediary liaison between Faculty Affairs and Harvard Griffin GSAS, leading efforts to manage issues and concerns that involve both offices and will work closely with the University’s Office for Gender Equity (Title IX) and the FAS Office for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (Title VI and VII).
Seth joined the FAS and Harvard Griffin GSAS as program officer for Title IX and professional conduct in 2015, after working as an education specialist with Harvard’s Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (OSAPR), which is now known as Sexual Harassment/Assault Resource Education (SHARE). As program officer, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing concerns of gender-based and sexual harassment within our community, as well as broader concerns regarding professional conduct. He additionally took a leading role in the implementation of the interim FAS policy on academic retaliation.
