We invite you back to Cambridge to reconnect with the cohort of PhD in government students who entered in the fall of 1984 over a weekend of engaging events, stimulating symposia, and opportunities to connect with classmates and former faculty including Robert Putnam, Peter Hall, Harvey Mansfield, and Robert Keohane.

Registration Check-In and Breakfast: 8:30 a.m.–9:15 a.m.

Location: Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES), Adolphus Busch Hall, 27 Kirkland Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Morning Session: 9:15 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

On Saturday morning, we will be meeting on campus along with several faculty members from our day and age for exchanges around three themes:

  • What we took with us: anecdotes about lessons we learned and other formative experiences as doctoral students that shaped our careers and lives.
  • What we were back then: reflections on the academic, cultural, and political debates of the mid to late 1980s and their legacies today.
  • What in the world is going on today: a debate on the future of liberal democracy.
