All graduating students participating in the University-wide Commencement and the Harvard Griffin GSAS Diploma Awarding Ceremony are required to wear the official Harvard rental regalia as approved by the Harvard University Commencement Office and distributed by the Harvard COOP.
Purchasing Regalia
The deadline to purchase a custom gown for Commencement has passed. The custom orders processing time is currently eight weeks, plus transit time within the US. For international deliveries, add two weeks.
Rental Regalia
Master's Degree Candidates
Students receiving an AM or SM degree and continuing master's candidates who plan to participate in Commencement activities can now order rental regalia via the Harvard COOP. The deadline for rental orders is April 7, 2024. This is a hard deadline, necessary to manage production, processing, and shipping timelines.
PhD Candidates
Students receiving a PhD degree who plan to participate in Commencement activities and rent their regalia do not need to pre-order or reserve a gown. You can pick up your rental gown at the Harvard COOP at the Palmer Street location on the ground floor from Tuesday, May 14 to Thursday, May 23. The hours are 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with the exception of Commencement Day, May 23, when the COOP will open at 6:45 a.m.
Your rental size is guaranteed in stock. If you have unique or specific sizing requirements, please contact the Harvard COOP by April 7, 2024 so they can accommodate you.
Returning Rental Regalia
All rental regalia returns should be made no later than June 7, 2024 to the main Harvard COOP location at 1400 Massachusetts Avenue, Third Floor.
