Jens Aubrey Westengard Fund

The Jens Aubrey Westengard Fund provides money for summer research or study in Europe, Great Britain, or South America. Students do not need to be physically present in the country as long as the resources they are accessing are located within a qualifying country.

Purpose

The Jens Aubrey Westengard Fund provides money for summer research or study in Europe, Great Britain, or South America. Students do not need to be physically present in the country as long as the resources they are accessing are located within a qualifying country.

Eligibility

This award is open to Harvard Griffin GSAS PhD students only.

Stipend and Tenure

The Jens Aubrey Westengard Fund award typically provides $600 to $1,000 toward the cost of research travel or summer programs based on budget and need.

Application

Applications for the Jens Aubrey Westengard Fund can be found in CARAT. The following information must be submitted in the CARAT application:

  • a travel budget
  • a statement of travel plans, including the purpose and destination of your trip
  • a list of available financial resources
  • a recommendation from a faculty member
  • a list of other summer awards that you have applied for.

The deadline is April 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Results are announced at the end of May. Awards are disbursed as a lump sum on July 1.
