Gisselle Vélez-Ruiz

As director of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, Gisselle Vélez-Ruiz is responsible for leading the development of strategic initiatives to support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for graduate students in Harvard Griffin GSAS. She leads the development, coordination, assessment, and enhancement of recruitment and retention efforts across Harvard Griffin GSAS programs. She works with faculty and staff across our 57 programs in the development of program-specific strategies for recruitment and retention of students from minoritized groups. Gisselle also works closely with our Division of Medical Sciences and other life science programs faculty and staff on training grants that support our students and different outreach initiatives. Additionally, she co-leads some Harvard Griffin GSAS outreach programs and Harvard summer research internship programs.
