The Fellowships & Writing Center (FWC) is excited to introduce its cohort of writing specialists for the 2026–2027 academic year. We welcome two new and one returning member to our team of specialists from across the disciplinary and geographical landscapes of the University. All recent PhDs, our writing specialists bring a range of research and professional experiences to the FWC, and they are eager to share their expertise with students. The team is ready to lead writing groups, host workshops, read drafts, hold individual consultations, and critique practice presentations.
Brianna Diaz Pacheco
Hello! My name is Brianna Diaz Pacheco, and I am so excited to be starting my first year at the Fellowships & Writing Center. I received my PhD from the biological and biomedical sciences program at Harvard, where I studied how the packaging and repair of DNA in the reproductive system affect fertility. One current question knocking around my mind asks how the advancement of medical diagnostic technologies has influenced reproduction trends in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. As a writing specialist, I’m excited to help students strengthen their scientific storytelling, whether they’re developing a fellowship application, preparing a presentation, or communicating their work to audiences beyond their field. I am looking forward to supporting researchers in finding the structure, language, and confidence to share their science and why it matters.
Josephine Reece-Stone
Hi! My name is Josephine and this is my fourth year at the Fellowships & Writing Center. I received my PhD from the English department at Harvard, where I wrote a dissertation on animal anecdotes in the 18th century. My research combines history of science, gender studies, and formal literary analysis to examine the representation of nonhuman animals. At the FWC, I enjoy running the Article Writing Workshop because I get to work closely with a group of scholars over the course of several weeks and see their articles evolve. A highlight from last year was helping to run the Three Minute Thesis Competition. It was so wonderful to learn about all our competitors’ research and see their growth throughout the process. I’m looking forward to meeting new participants this spring! Another constant highlight for me is seeing the communities that build up around the Writing Oasis each semester. I love supporting students through their particular writing journey, whether that is keeping up with first-year coursework, writing a conference paper, or finishing the dissertation!
Sarah C. Rosenthal
Hi there! This is my first year as a postdoctoral writing specialist in humanities and social sciences at the Fellowships & Writing Center. I received my PhD in history of art and architecture from Harvard this past May with a focus on early modern European art. My dissertation concerned the Swiss artist and mercenary soldier Urs Graf (ca. 1485–ca. 1528). My research—whether about drawings, flags, daggers, or painted glass windows—examines artistic production and material culture as sites of contested sociopolitical agency and authority. As a fellow at the FWC, I look forward to helping students strengthen and clarify their writing and to learning about their work in the process. I hope to spend this year considering the limitations and allowances of academic writing as well.
