DAVID ROMNEY, PhD ’20, is an assistant professor in the political science department at Brigham Young University (BYU). At BYU, he is heavily involved in the international studies programs, in particular the Middle East Studies/Arabic major, the political science department's Global Politics Lab, and BYU's study abroad programs (the most recent of which that he directed took place in Malaysia and Singapore). His research focuses on ethnic and religious politics and conspiracy theories in the Middle East/North Africa and Southeast Asia regions. Romney received his BA from Brigham Young University and a PhD in government from Harvard. During his time at Harvard Griffin GSAS, he served as the co-chair of the GSAS Student-Parents Organization and as a department representative to the Graduate Student Council, as well as being selected as a 2020 Commencement Marshal.
