Ashim Subedee

ASHIM SUBEDEE, PhD ’15, biological and biomedical sciences, is a life sciences investment and innovation leader with experience fostering biomedical innovation ecosystems and incubating and accelerating biotech and medtech startups. He is currently the Acting Director of the Division of Research, Innovation, and Ventures (DRIVe) and the Director of the DRIVe Catalyst Office at the Biomedical Research & Development Authority (BARDA) within the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). Ashim leads a team dedicated to fostering health security innovation ecosystems and the development and commercialization of next-generation health security technologies through several novel public-private partnerships, including BARDA Ventures and BARDA Accelerator Network. Prior to BARDA, Ashim was a Program Director at the NIH and supported biomedical entrepreneurship and product development by both academic and small business innovators at the NCI Small Business Development Center, and the NIH Small Business Education and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Office. Ashim began his career as a Presidential Management Fellow and worked at multiple programs across the NIH and the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) during the fellowship. His dissertation at Harvard was focused on molecular determinants and transcriptional regulators in triple-negative breast cancer. While at Harvard, he served as co-President of the Science Policy Group, Vice President of the Biotechnology Club, and Business Development Fellow at the Office of Technology Development.
