Culture, Community, and Engagement Fund

The Culture, Community, and Engagement (CCE) Fund supports initiatives and events led by recognized Harvard Griffin GSAS student groups that strengthen community, foster cultural exchange, and promote leadership and professional development. Grants of up to $2,000 are available for eligible projects open to all Harvard Griffin GSAS students.

Apply to the CCE Fund

Eligibility

Recognized student groups at Harvard Griffin GSAS may apply. Multiple student groups are encouraged to collaborate and submit joint proposals. Each group (or collaborative team) may apply once per cycle.

Initiatives must focus on at least one of the following:

  • Cultural gatherings or celebrations
  • Community building or engagement
  • Leadership or professional development

Initiatives must be open and accessible to the Harvard Griffin GSAS student community.

Applicants must describe how they will ensure accessibility, including considerations such as physical access, dietary needs, or virtual participation.

Grant amounts

Recognized student groups may apply for one of three funding levels, depending on the scope and scale of their proposed initiative:

  • $100–$499: Small-scale (10–25 participants)
  • $500–$999: Medium-scale (30–50 participants)
  • $1,000–$2,000: Large-scale initiatives with broad campus impact or significant educational/cultural programming (50+ participants)

Application Process

All applications must include:

  1. Event title, description, and goals.
  2. A brief statement explaining how the event will foster cultural exchange, strengthen community, or advance leadership and professional development among Harvard Griffin GSAS students.
  3. Expected audience and anticipated impact.
  4. An itemized budget. If additional funding is received or requested from other sources, that information must be disclosed.
  5. Names and contact information for all individuals responsible for the event.

Review

Applications will be considered only for future events.

All applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of Harvard Griffin GSAS administrators and student leaders. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received a CCE grant during the current academic year.

Deadlines

  • Fall: November 21, 2025
  • Winter: January 30, 2026
  • Spring: March 27, 2026

Applicants should receive decisions regarding their applications approximately two to three weeks after the deadline.

Funding Requirements

  • Applications may not overlap with major University events (e.g., orientations, Commencement).
  • Publicity must follow approved University channels and guidelines, including posting the event on the Harvard Griffin GSAS Engage website.
  • A previous award does not guarantee future funding approval.
  • Grant funds may not be used for alcohol, personal stipends, off-campus events, travel, or unrelated items.
  • Any unspent or unused funds must be returned to the CCE Fund after the event.

Reporting Requirements

Final reports must be submitted within two weeks of the event and include:

  • A brief reflection on how the event advanced the goals of community, cultural exchange, or leadership/professional development among Harvard Griffin GSAS students.
  • A summary of the event, including attendance, outcomes, and photos.
  • A final list of itemized expenses.

Failure to complete the post-event report may affect consideration for future funding.

Additional guidelines

Awardees will receive guidance from CCE and other relevant Harvard Offices.
