Elizabeth Klerman, MD/PhD ’90

Dr. Elizabeth Klerman, MD/PhD ’90, is a Professor of Neurology at Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital and a Scholars in Medicine (SIM) Fellow Hinston Society at Harvard Medical School.
At Massachusetts General Brigham and Harvard Medical School, Klerman’s efforts are concentrated in clinical and biomathematical research, teaching, and clinical practice. Her areas of research are (a) the application of circadian and sleep research principles to normal and pathophysiologic states, and (b) mathematical analysis and modeling of human circadian, sleep, and neurobehavioral mood and performance rhythms. In 2024, she was awarded the Sleep Research Society Distinguished Scientist Award. Dr. Klerman also mentors students and junior faculty locally and internationally about conducting and analyzing patient-oriented research.
