Howdy folks! We hope you are having a pleasant end to the fall semester and are getting ready for some well-deserved rest and relaxation in the coming weeks. Winter break is a great time of year to recharge. Yes, it does get dark at 4:00 p.m., but what better time of year to curl up with a book, try new soup recipes, or start an interesting podcast?
We’ve spoken here often about ways we can reset socially or emotionally, but, for graduate students especially, an intellectual reset can be another important part of self-care. Graduate work can be intensely focused on a small area of research. It's normal to experience burnout every once in a while. Taking deliberate breaks from your usual area of reading or research is a great way to shake off any mental dust that has been collecting. Exploring other interests and hobbies reignites our passion and opens our minds to new perspectives as well.
With that in mind, check out some of the amazing opportunities offered during this year's upcoming January@HarvardGriffinGSAS! January@HarvardGriffinGSAS promotes a variety of programming to the GSAS community, from academic and professional development workshops to cultural, recreational, and community building opportunities. Sign up for a workshop hosted by a GSAS office or one of the GSAS Student Council Mini-Courses. These are courses taught by GSAS students from Monday, January 9 through Friday, January 20, 2023. (The Student Center at Harvard Griffin GSAS is also hosting their annual ski trip for all skill levels of skiers and snowboarders!)
