The Harvard GSAS Association for Meditation and Psychedelic Studies focuses on reviewing academic studies surrounding meditation, psychedelics, breathwork, and related practices that may induce non-ordinary states of consciousness and enhance well-being from the perspective of science, medicine, spiritual tradition, and art. We invite speakers, have a journal club, and organize events to further understand the potential of these practices for clinical therapies, personal growth, and social change. Since these topics can be approached from many different fields, we seek to build community within GSAS by co-organizing events with students and faculty from a diverse array of Harvard GSAS programs, including fields like medical sciences, neuroscience, psychology, social policy, and anthropology. We also link interested students with academic research on these practices and direct members to meditation practices being offered in the Harvard area.
