GSAS Student Center Orchestra
Dedicated to the practice and performance of classical music at Harvard University and within the broader Cambridge community, the GSAS Symphony Orchestra @ the Student Center is the Symphony Orchestra of Harvard's Graduate School for Arts and Sciences. Composed primarily of Harvard graduate students, as well as additional players from the Boston metropolitan area, the orchestra aims to create and maintain a focused and inclusive environment to enjoy the experience of orchestral music-making. Recent highlights of the group's performances have included collaborations with acclaimed soloists including Erica Brookhyser, Lucy Fitz Gibbon, and Robert Levin. We hold auditions at the beginning of each academic year and look forward to welcoming new members during our 2019/20 season.
For further information please contact the current Orchestra Fellow. The 2019-20 Orchestra Fellow is Max Murray.

GSAS Student Center Jazz Band
Welcome to the GSAS Student Center Jazz Band! The offerings for playing jazz at the GSAS Student Center include a small combo and a large big band. Both ensembles play two official concerts a year, as well as a variety of student functions, including a swing dance (Spring Swing) and a salsa party. The repertoire consists of tunes from the post-bop and swing era, as well as forays into works by contemporary composers. Guest artists from the Boston area and beyond often join students for master classes and at the concerts, and concerts will occasionally take on a theme of specific composers. Graduate students are welcome to bring in arrangements of pieces, their own compositions, as well as propose songs that they like. Both groups rehearse once a week (on Wednesday nights in the GSAS Student Center). Auditions will be held at the beginning of the year.
Please contact the Jazz Band fellow if you're interested. We look forward to a wonderful year of swinging with you! The 2019-20 Jazz Band Fellow is Jacob Sunshine.

GSAS Student Center World Music Collective
The GSAS Student Center World Music Collective at Harvard University is a collective of musicians committed to exploring music beyond the Euro-American tradition through (re)arranging, composing, and performing music and sound that draw on various national, regional, and local musical cultures. If you are interested in playing and performing with us, contact your World Music Ensemble Fellow. We welcome musicians of all background and skills: Western classical, folk, pop, jazz, and especially those from non-Western musical traditions.
We rehearse weekly, workshopping different songs every week in the Fireside Room at the GSAS Student Center. We also organize rehearsals at other times during the week according to availability of musicians and needs, so if even if you can't make our regularly scheduled practices, feel free to inquire! The 2019-20 World Music Collective Fellow is Audrey Wozniak.
