The annual Harvard East Asia Society (HEAS) Graduate Student Conference, now in its twenty-third year, provides an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion and exchange of current research on East Asia. As one of the largest graduate student conferences of its kind in North America, this conference gives younger scholars the opportunity to meet with colleagues pursuing similar lines of inquiry and to explore ideas and methods outside of their areas of research. Importantly, the conference is also an occasion for members of the greater Boston and Harvard communities to deepen their interests in and understanding of East Asian topics alongside graduate students and faculty in related disciplines. The title of this year’s conference is, “Life on the Edge: Borders and Boundaries in East Asia," as we are looking for the theme to invoke cross-cultural connections in the East Asia Diaspora.
