Academic Procession, 7:15 a.m. at 33 Oxford St.

The ceremonies begin with the formation of the academic procession of GSAS graduates in full regalia processing to Sever Quad.The Academic Procession flows from both the Old Yard where the President's Division and Alumni Divisions enter and the Sever Quad where the graduates from the graduate and professional schools enter.

Morning Exercises of Commencement, 9:45 a.m. in Harvard Yard

The deans of each school introduce their graduates as a group and President Faust confers each degree type individually for all recipients of that degree. *Please note: graduates will not be awarded their diplomas here. Exercises include the traditional commencement parts including speeches and orations by students. Harvard University honorary degrees are awarded. Tickets Required.

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Diploma Awarding Ceremony, 12:00 noon in Sanders Theatre, Memorial Hall

Immediately following the Morning Exercises, GSAS diplomas are awarded to all graduates (both doctoral and masters) on stage in Sanders Theatre. Dean Mike Smith and Interim Dean Emma Dench will both provide brief remarks; graduates will be individually presented with degrees and will walk across the stage. Tickets are not required.

Afternoon Program, 2:30 p.m. in Harvard Yard

Also tradionally and formally known as the Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association, the Afternoon Program features presentations by President Faust and the University Distinguished Commencement Speaker. The program includes an alumni procession. Tickets Required.
